In 1893, a French-German engineer named Rudolf Diesel invented an efficient, internal combustion engine the still bears his name today. Since the usage of the diesel engine has become widespread, due in part of running more efficient than comparable gas engines.

This technology enables Jaguar to meet local legislation by reducing levels of nitrogen oxide emitted from the exhaust system by up to 90%.

For 2018 Jaguar is offering customers more models equipped with optional diesel power trains than any other luxury manufacturer in North America.
