Did you know the diesel engine was invented in the 1890s?

In 1893, a French-German engineer named Rudolf Diesel invented an efficient, internal combustion engine the still bears his name today. Since the usage of the diesel engine has become widespread, due in part of running more efficient than comparable gas engines.

Over the years the diesel engine has become lighter, cleaner and more fuel efficient, however, recent events in the media have led customers to question the benefits and cleanliness of the diesel engine.

That is why consumers should know Jaguar diesels are not only fuel efficient, but are among the cleanest in the world, with emission levels comparable to gas-powered engines. All Jaguar diesel vehicles have been fitted with Selective Catalyst Reduction. This technology enables Jaguar to meet local legislation by reducing levels of nitrogen oxide emitted from the exhaust system by up to 90%.

For 2018 Jaguar is offering customers more models equipped with optional diesel power trains than any other luxury manufacturer in North America.
